Premature Destruction

Former Rancho Linda Vista resident Betina Fink painted “Davidson” in 2020, an 18x24” oil on canvas. Betina writes, “Davidson is part of a series concerned with honoring the endangered creeks and lands near the proposed Rosemont Mine area. The waters and fragile ecosystem are directly impacted by an outdated grandfathered mining law, as well as the Trump era lifting of protection of these streams. Currently, Hudbay (a Canadian company) is blading the desert to prepare for five open pit mines on the other side of the Santa Ritas (near Green Valley) on privately owned land. This premature destruction is motivated by greed and disregard for the environment and cultural histories.”
